Just the information you were looking for. Please note that the information provided here pertains to Braxton residents.

Quick Links (Alphabetical): Food, Health, Heater, Mail, Keys, Laundry, ERC map, Parking, Sick, Smoking, Weather, Work Order

Q: Where can i park my car?

A:: Parking on the WVU campus is difficult at best. Many parking lots require a permit. Due to the limited number of parking spaces available, students are strongly advised to leave their cars at home. For more information about parking, contact Parking Management at 293-5502

Q: How and where do i receive my mail?

A:: U.S. mail is delivered directly to the hall Monday through Friday. Campus mail is collected from and distributed to all University buildings, including residence halls, postage free. Mailboxes are located on the ground floor of Braxton R.C. You can access your mailbox with your closet key. A pink slip in your mailbox usually indicates that you have received a package. In such cases, you’ll need your student ID to pick up the delivery.

Q: How and where can i do my laundry?

A:: Laundry facilities are made available on each floor of Braxton R.C. For your convenience, you may place funds for laundry in the Mountie Bountie debit plan (see “How do i put money on my student ID card?” for more information). Each time you activate a washer or dryer using your card, the value will be deducted. Each load costs $1.25 to wash and $1.25 to dry with your Mountaineer Card. These rates are subject to change.

Q: What do i do if i’m locked out of my room?

A:: Go to the Brooke/Braxton main desk with your student ID in hand to check out a temp key. You have 72 hours to return the temp key once it is issued to you. Failure to do so will result in a lock change for which you will be responsible and billed for. If you’ve lost your keys, you’ll have to request a lock change for which a $50 fee will be billed to your student account. You (and your roommate) will be notified to pick up your new keys at the main desk after the lock change has been performed.

Q: Where can i smoke?

A:: Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the residence halls. Designated smoking areas are located outside every residence hall. Look out for signs indicating non-smoking areas. Students found smoking in these areas will be documented and necessary sanctions will be applied.

Q: Where do i go if I’m feeling sick?

A:: You can visit Student Health Services located on the Medical Campus in the Health Sciences building behind Ruby Memorial Hospital. You may contact this office at 293-2311 to make an appointment. A $10.00 co-pay is due at the time of your medical appointment. This covers an evaluation by the UHS staff and limited laboratory and x-ray studies. Payment may be in the form of cash, check, charged to your Mountie Bounty account, or charged to your student account. Click here to learn more.

Q: Where can i get food to eat?

A:: With a meal plan, you can get food from the Evansdale Cafeteria or Brew ‘n Gold, both located on the main floor of Braxton R.C. At night, from Sunday through Thursday, students can purchase food from the Lyon’s Den which is conveniently located right outside Lyon R.C. There, Mountie Bounty, Meals Plus, cash and credit/debit cards are accepted. Click here to learn more about Blue and Gold Plans and meal periods.

Q: What do i do if my air conditioner / heater is broken and/or leaking?

A:: Go to http://fsd.wvu.edu and follow the instructions provided on the website to fill out and submit a work order. You’ll need your Central ID username and password to log in. When your request is received and accepted, you’ll receive a confirmation by email sent to your MIX account. After that, a staff of WVU Facilities will attend to you as soon as possible and get the problem fixed. If you’re not in your room when they arrive, they’ll have to key into your room. If you find the process of completing a work order too complicated, do not hesitate to contact your RA.
